In this course you will learn how to take your ideas from 2D concepts to 3D models for games and Virtual Reality using industry standard tools and software such as Autodesk Maya, ZBrush, and plugins like Substance Designer.
By the end of the course you will learn the core pipeline used by industry artists, and you will have produce a quality 3D prop or simple character, fully textured in a game engine of your choice.
A VR development station in our HoloLab is provided for the duration of the course, with a VR Lunchbox running Autodesk Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop, Unreal engine and Marmoset Toolbag 3.
Week 1: Concept art, finding reference, creating moodboards.
Week 2: Introduction to Maya: the basics of modeling and navigating Maya.
Week 3: Introduction to Zbrush: the basics of sculpting and navigating Zbrush.
Week 4: Retopology and low poly optimization for real-time rendering.
Week 5: Introduction to Substance Painter, PBR, and texture creation.
Week 6: Import textured models into engine.
